Coalition calls for cleanup of former GM property in St. Catharines ASAP
“The ministry needs to do everything in its power to test and when there are violations the ministry needs to do whatever it needs to do to get compliance on the site,” she said.
GM operated a factory at 282 and 285 Ontario St. until 2010. It sold the property in June 2014 to Bayshore Groups, which auctioned off machinery and tools and partially demolished the site before listing it for sale in March 2019.
The property is the focus of a $15-million lawsuit between Bayshore and Attar Metals which is expected to be in court in Toronto for trial later this month.
